18.00: Introductory Session and Dinner
This informal session will introduce the thinking behind the SiS Catalyst project with an update on the progress so far. This conference marks the end of our Start Small Phase and our move into our Scale Fast Phase, we are an ambitious project and we want to mobilise our mutual leanring! This evening will also be a networking opportunity to meet the partners, advisers and the other delegates.
Tuesday June 26th
09:00 – 17:00: Children as Change Agents for Science and Society - Putting global thinking into action
This day will be interactive and participatory, as together we explore some of the fundamental issues behind SiS Catalyst and our vision of the role that education can play in our collective future. Thinking through questions like: What is the role of universities in addressing inequality? We are the custodians of our children´s future but how are they included in our institutional learning? How can we maximise our impact?
19:15 – 21:00: Launch of Practical Guidelines and Reception
These Practical Guidelines will reflect how Children’s University type activities can be targeted at young people currently unlikely to progress to university. They honestly explore case studies, pilots, successes and failures, and examine different models at institutional, regional and national levels. They include reflections from the variety of actors and intermediaries, and explore issues of the ethics of this work as well as measuring the impact.
Wednesday June 27th
09:30 – 12:30 Parallel Sessions
There will be a variety of sessions running concurrently including EAN Training Sessions, an International Students Forum and a Market Place for participants to showcase their activities. This will include examples of Children's Universities and related activities from around the world. If you would like at a stall in the market please indicate this on your booking form. (We are not looking for big display stands etc just real examples of activities for people to discuss.)
12:30 – 14:30 Registration, Lunch & EAN Annual General Meeting
All SiS Catalyst Conference attendees are also invited to join the 21st EAN Annual Conference, 27th – 29th June 2012, with the main themes of affordability of HE, ranking, quality, equity and diversity.
